Understanding and Applying Compassion: The Three Steps to Thoughtful Action

This 30-minute session is designed to introduce the concept of compassion and provide a practical framework for applying it in everyday life. An act of compassion is defined as doing something that helps someone feel better. The initial, crucial step to being truly compassionate is to recognize when someone or something else is hurting.

Andy Smallman has over 35 years of experience empowering people, particularly young people whose needs fall outside mainstream educational settings, to recognize their value. His compassionate approach fosters self-discovery and respect.

Event is Free: Nov 14 · 10am Pacific in the US (12pm CT, 1pm ET)

What is compassion, really? And where does listening fit in?

In this session, we’ll explore compassion not as a soft option but as a courageous practice that begins with how we listen—to ourselves and to others. Through Thinking Pairs and a Listening Circle, we’ll experience how attention, silence, and presence create the conditions for compassion to grow.

Colin D. Smith is The Listener - Improving the listening, thinking and relationship skills of individuals and teams. Expert in listening.

Event is Free: Nov 19 · 16:00 GMT (8am Pacific in the US - 10am CT, 11am ET)
